My treatments

There’s a power in recognising our own role in the healing process because our minds affect everything, down to the cellular level. The events of life do not create suffering in and of themselves, rather the body produces sensations in response to the external world, and suffering (craving and aversion) arises from the mind’s blind and instinctual reactions to these sensations. I work in harmony with you to create your unique experience and to deepen the benefits. I provide a permissive, confidential and safe space for you to receive, and release, what you need to.

I have an interest in the Shamanic and spiritual, and a wide experience and training in body work, different massage disciplines, hypnotherapy/psychotherapy, deep relaxation and intention setting. I am experienced in supporting people who are dealing with trauma, chronic pain, anxiety and other stress/trauma experiences, whether from past experiences or contemporary challenges.

Following an informal consultation we will go into the massage clear on your boundaries and what supports you best. This will be done through a relaxing, healing and empathetically delivered massage over an unhurried 90 minutes (the optimum time for real benefit). Throughout your treatment, you will be guided into deep relaxation and rhythmic flow of breath to calm and rest the mind and body and allow a deep internal connection with your own felt sense and energies.

I tend to avoid labels for treatments as each session is so personalised with, and by, you, but for those who want some more detail the following is based on some of my specific training:

Ayurvedic Healing Massage: has at it’s core the principle of Ayurveda - of balance and wellbeing. I seek a holistic integration of the body, emotions and mind by directly treating physical manifestations of discomfort, calming the nervous system so you feel safe and able to let go of chronic pain signals that have no identifiable physiological cause (e.g. much back pain and anxiety/stress symptoms). Classical Ayurvedic Yoga Massage alternates between deep tissue massage and assisted stretches that are broadly based on typical yoga postures. I usually use a massage couch, though you can opt for a mattress on the floor. It is an oil massage, optionally using calamus powder, a plant widely used in Ayurvedic medicine for skincare and nourishment. The massage, performed with hands, and sometimes feet, both soothes and helps to remove physical tensions (and with it emotional tensions) while gradually warming up and softening muscle tissues and fascia.

Lomi Lomi Temple Massage: A spiritual healing massage from Hawaii, Lomi lomi is a sensual full body oil massage that many feel mimics the power of the sea with long ‘wave like’ gentle massage strokes. The massage takes place on a heated oil coated massage table that all adds to an experience of blissful sensations. Based on the belief memories are stored in every cell of the human body the long, continuous strokes help the body let go of its old patterns and behaviours in a unique healing experience. Using hands and forearms to apply coconut oil to the body (other oils are available) the massage is given with a loving touch - strokes are mild and moderate in pressure, creating a warm and deeply immersive experience that many feel is purifying and liberating from past tensions and can invoke a deep sense of renewal and rebirth.

Will it be good for me? When we don’t release emotions and stuck energy, we compromise our organs and tissues that fight infection and rid the body of toxins. Bodywork is so important in supporting this and the lymphatic system and many cultures recognise that massage should be a routine part of human self care. We heal best when our nervous system feels safe. Massage is proven to lower stress and stimulate production of serotonin and oxytocin. New evidence emerges regularly showing the benefits of touch in supporting mental and emotional health. It directly boosts the immune system and production of white blood cells. It reduces cortisol and thus can increase the natural production of oestrogen. It is especially beneficial during difficult times, of stress, loss or grief, and for releasing long term anxiety and fear.

I have the good fortune to be able to see Reggie every fortnight. My Ayurvedic appointments have become a sacred time, the benefits of which integrate for days after. I feel so incredibly safe and truly seen with Reggie, which is rare to find these days. Each appointment reveals something different about where I am physically, mentally and emotionally, and Reggie works beautifully and with genuine care to help support me with whatever arises. Thank you so very much, Reggie - I am so grateful our paths crossed.
